I've worked alongside musician Henry Grace for years, creating the visuals that support and extend his sound - posters, merch, social media assets, his monthly newsletter, videos and web design.
The most recent work has been the artwork for his new album Things Are Moving All Around Me, co-produced with Blaine Harrison of Mystery Jets and recorded mostly live at Middle Farm Studios in Devon. I used a film photograph I took during the recording sessions - one that captures the mood of the record, as if you're in the room with the band. The challenge was typography: how do you let an image breathe without competing with it? The solution on the printed vinyl was a spot UV font laid over the photo - invisible until the light catches it at the right angle.
The visual theme running through the singles and social posts was that same raw, unfinished quality: notebook scribbles, masking tape used to mark song structures in the studio. Found material that felt true to the process.

The sun logo - originally drawn from a stained glass window in Henry's flat - has been a constant across the merch over the years. It now lives on the vinyl sticker and as the graphic on the tote bags.
The band posters are where I get the most creative freedom, whether working purely in illustration or mixed media using photographs I've taken. And a new favourite among fans is his weekly newsletter, where he documents what he's been up to, recommends one song and shares upcoming gigs. Creating the rustic illustrations for that was a real treat.
Go check out his music.
